Hi, I’m Michelle Brans, a registered psychotherapist with the CRPO, meeting the college’s requirements for a supervisor. I began my journey in mental wellness and psychology in 2004. I am the Clinical Director and Founder of Counting Butterflies Child & Family Wellness, established in 2012, and the Co-Director and Clinical Supervisor of The Therapy Collective Psychotherapy & Wellness, established in 2021. Additionally, I supervise Qualifying Psychotherapists and Masters-Level Graduate Interns with several Canadian University Programs.
I take a contemporary approach to psychotherapy, primarily using Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). My practice is client-centred, trauma-informed, holistic, and integrative. You can learn more about my credentials in my CV attached below.
I created these supervision programs because I wish I’d had them when I started. Practicing self-care from day one would have saved me from almost hitting rock bottom in my career. On the outside, I appeared highly successful with two thriving practices, a happy family, and a nice house. But inside, I was struggling with stress and depletion. Integrating daily self-care practices transformed my life. Now, I’m passionate about helping other therapists and helping professionals care for their mental well-being.
I live with my husband, teenage daughter, and dogs on our homestead in the forest in the Greater Toronto Area. I love good food, daydreaming, forest wanders, travel, and all four-legged creatures. I’m an avid collector of found objects in nature and beautiful life stories of transformation and growth. I’ve designed my life deliberately, and I want to help open-hearted therapists create a rewarding life, inside and out.
